SIRIOS - Connection Issues with SIRIOS Scanner After Windows Update

Symptom:

The scanner does not appear in the Scanner List of the Straumann SIRIOS software when attempting to connect a wireless scanner, although it shows up in the Windows Wi-Fi list.

Cause:

With the upcoming Windows update, new privacy settings will allow users to customize which apps have access to Wi-Fi networks in their physical location.

However, if the user selects "No" in the pop-up message after the Windows update, the Straumann SIRIOS software will not have access to Wi-Fi networks, and therefore will be unable to connect to the wireless scanner, which operates as a Wi-Fi network.

Affected Users

·       All Windows users who have installed the Windows Insider Preview version since October 2023.

·       All Windows users who update their Windows after Microsoft releases the Windows feature update in fall 2024 (which has not yet been released).

Resolutions:

1. If the following prompt appears, please click Yes to allow Straumann SIRIOS to access the location, then try refreshing the scanner list again.

2.     If the prompt does not appear and there is no other error message, please go to

Settings > Privacy & Security > Location

Enable the following options in sequence:

1: Location services 2: Let apps access your location

3: Let desktop apps access your location

Then, reopen the Straumann SIRIOS software and refresh the scanner list.
