NOVA - Installation Procedure

This document is intended to be used as a step-by-step guide on how to properly install Nova.

  1. Hardware requirement

    To be able to use our software without trouble, please review the system requirements


  2. Installation
    1. Download installer 

      Download the installer file in the Dental Wings download center


    2. Install Nova

      Once the installer is available on the system, it is required to execute the installer as Admin. 

      • Right click on the installer and select Run as Administrator 

        Choose your language between English, French or Italian and press OK

        Press Next to progress 

        Choose the desired installation depending on your setup

        • 7 Series if you have a 7S or 7S NG (window 7 or Windows 10) 
        • 3Series if you have a 3S Plus  or 3S NG (window 7 or Windows 10) 
        • Medit If you have a Medit Lab Scanner T500, T310, T510 or T710 
        • Other scanner for other third-party scanners we support like Shining 3D and UP3D 
        • No Scanner if your system has no lab scanner connected and is purely a design station  


    • Default install Path is now: 

      C:\Program Files\Dental Wings\DWOS Easy or D:\Dental Wings\DWOS Easy 

      or C:\Program Files\Straumann\Cares Visual Easy or D:\Straumann\Cares Visual Easy


    • For a DW Lab Scanner (7 Series or 3 Series) on windows 7, we recommend to place the installation on the D drive (D:\Dental Wings\DWOS Easy or D:\Straumann\Cares Visual Easy)

    • You can customize as well the location of the Program Data which represents where all your data (database, filevault, cases  for the software). It is also recommended to change the location to the D drive for the DW Lab Scanner on windows 7 


  • Once the installation is done, you can press Next and then Finish to exit the Installation


  1. First Launch & First Time setup 

    1. License request

      Run the software for the 1st time to initiate the First time setup using the shortcut on the desktop.

      Request for a new license for Nova with the desired setup.

      Save the license request and send it by email to license-request@dental-wings.com. You can simply copy/paste the corresponding cell from the last row as message. 


    2. First Launch 

      Prerequisite : Have a valid license based on the license request in step 3.a  

      • Launch the shortcut available on the desktop and import the newly received license.
      • The license should be valid and you should see the following message.

    3. First time setup

      Once a valid license has been imported and software is launch for the first time , the configuration (first time setup) is triggered.


      Once the license imported, you can follow the First time setup guide available in our Nova Helpcenter.
